Vaughan Athletic Center Tennis Center

General Information

Everyone from the highly competitive to purely social player can take advantage of the nine indoor tennis courts at the Vaughan Athletic Center. The indoor tennis season runs from late August to May. The tennis center is open limited hours during June, July and August. The indoor courts are available for lessons, leagues and open play.

All Vaughan Athletic Center day pass customers (aquatics, fitness and tennis) needing lower-level locker room access during their visit are issued a wristband at the time of their day pass purchase at the cashier’s desk. Please present that wristband to the aquatics cashier for entry into the lower-level locker rooms.

Tennis

Annual Pass Rates

 Individual Adult $100(Residents) / $150(Non-residents)

 Couple $175(Residents) / $250(Non-residents)

Court Time Rates

Advance Reservations

Pass Holders Only non-prime hours: $20/per hour whole court

Pass Holders Only prime hours: $24/per hour whole court

Less Than 24 hours Advance Notice

Pass Holders Only non-prime hours: $16/per hour whole court

Guest Fees: All adult non-members $6 per visit

Senior Play (six courts reserved) (must be 55 years old or better)

Pass and Non-Pass Holders (Monday to Thursday 7 to 9 a.m.; Friday 7 to 8:30 a.m.): $3 per player

Pass and Non-Pass Holders (any other time slot): $12 per hour with maximum of two hours

Note: Senior non-pass holders can only make reservations less than 24 hours in advance for this rate and may only reserve court time for up to two hours.

Junior Walk-On Court

  • Any time of day
  • No membership required
  • Less than 24 hours advance notice
  • Pass and Non-Pass Holders: $12 per hour

Ball Machine

  • Any time of day
  • Pass and Non Pass Holders: $5 per hour

Private Tennis Instruction

Tennis staff provides excellent private instruction. Lesson rates range from $45 to $60 per hour.

Ladies Northern Illinois Traveling Tennis League

Ladies Northern Illinois Traveling Tennis League, established more than 20 years ago, practices once a week and plays matches on Thursdays or Fridays. Anyone interested in an organized ladies tennis league during the week may call the tennis desk at (630) 907-8067.

USTA Team Tennis

The Vaughan Athletic Center has court time reserved for USTA tennis on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Anyone interested in playing on a team or becoming a captain of a team should call the tennis desk at 630-907-8067 or e-mail bschmidt@fvpd.net.

Men’s Tennis Clinics

  • 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays: Level 3.0+
  • 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays: Level 4.0+
  • 8 to 9:30 a.m. Sundays: Level 3.0+

Fees:

  • $18 for members
  • $20 for resident non-members
  • $25 for non-resident non-members

Women’s Tennis Clinics

  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays: Beginner
  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays: Level 3.0/3.5
  • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays: Level 3.5+ and above
  • 8:30 to 10 a.m. Fridays: Beginner

Fees

  • $12 for members
  • $15 for resident non-members
  • $20 for non-resident non-members

Court Rules

  • Please check in at the front desk.
  • Street shoes are not allowed on courts. Only tennis shoes may be worn.
  • All tennis court rules, regulations and courtesies shall be observed.
  • Private instructors are not allowed to teach classes without written authorization of the Park District.
  • Courts may be reserved at the front desk or by calling 630-907-8067.
  • Please do not sit, push or pull on tennis nets.
