2010
Mid-American
Canoe & Kayak Race
Sunday, June 6

The historic Mid-Am hits the Fox River on June 6, 2010 for its 49th running, combining long-lived tradition with several new features.

Based on the success of last year's two-tiered race, the Mid-Am will again feature TWO race lengths - a 10-miler from St. Charles and a 6-miler from Batavia. Both races will finish at McCullough Park in Aurora with a post-race party and awards ceremony.

*NEW* for 2010: Discount rates available for groups of 10 boats or more that reserve a heat from the same starting area. Each paddler in a designated group of 10 boats receives $5 off his/her entry fee.

Scout groups, church organizations, paddling clubs, school teams, business outings ... ANY organized group can take advantage by signing up their fleet for an exclusive heat. Multiple groups are welcome, too - with 10 boats per heat going off every 4 minutes.

Canoe rental package discounts: Want to paddle in the Mid-Am but don't have a canoe? No problem. We've partnered with Freeman Sports to provide easy, one-stop rentals - and each paddler saves $10 to boot with the new discounted package. Click here for more information.

Shuttle upgrades: With the free shuttle service a popular option for its convenience, we'll be operating larger buses and running more of them between the start areas and finish line to better accommodate all paddlers.

Make things easy - drop your boat at the start area, park at the finish line and take advantage of the free, convenient shuttle. Your vehicle awaits you at the post-race party!

Timing upgrades: An upgraded timing system will be in place for the 2010 race to minimize any glitches and snafus that may arise when timing hundreds of canoes and kayaks over a 10-mile stretch of river. We're striving for 100% accuracy - perfect timing, if you will.

The post-race party will feature display boards with racers' times posted and updated frequently.

Our dream? To never utter the phrase "technical difficulties" again!

Discount hotel rates: Need a place to stay? The Baymont Inn is offering 15% off standard room rates during Mid-Am weekend. You'll be centrally located to all that's going on. Call 630-897-7695 to make reservations, and mention rate code L17. For details on Baymont Inn, click here.
