The primary mission of the Park District Police is to provide Fox Valley Park District guests with a safe and enjoyable environment and experience connected with use of trails, parks, programs and facilities offered by the District. The desired goal of our law enforcement and public safety program is to create a positive effect on the lives and well-being of our community members and afford more opportunities for stewardship and accepting responsibility for the protection and use of public resources.

Service Area

Park District Police are the primary police authority, having jurisdiction over all Fox Valley Park District lands and facilities and enforcement of district ordinances governing park use. Additionally, the District provides contracted services to the City of Aurora at Phillips Park. Officers take an active role with affiliate organizations, regularly attend special community meetings and are contributing members to the law enforcement community as a whole in Kane, Kendall, Will and DuPage counties.     In the Community

    The Fox Valley Park District Police provide safety education to the community through events and presentations. Officers are available to speak with community groups and schools. For more information, call the Park Police Office.

    Summer Safety Tips

    • Make sure your home’s doors and windows are locked any time you are away.
    • Awareness means looking out for behaviors of people that should raise red flags. They include unknown people walking onto properties peering into windows, checking doors (including vehicles doors), to see if they are locked; or walking down the street with items like televisions, laptops, or other valuables.
    • If you see suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, parks or park buildings call 911.
    • You should be prepared to give detailed information and descriptions of suspects including physical characteristics, clothing, vehicles involved and direction of travel.

    Stop Senseless Damage – Report Suspicious Activity Help protect your community with our Arson Tipster Reward Program. The Fox Valley Park District encourages you to take an active role in promoting safety. If you see individuals causing fire damage in your park, please report this information immediately. Information you provide to police is strictly confidential, and your identity will not be disclosed. You could receive a $500 reward. Call the Tip Line at 630-264-7421

    If you were involved in a vehicular accident on Fox Valley Park District property, obtain your report here. If you are unable to print your report, a free copy can be made available for you at the police station.

    CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation

    Fox Valley is the only park district police force in the state to receive Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) recognition, and only the 50th agency statewide among 1,175 police agencies in Illinois. The award culminated an extensive, two-year self-assessment process that required the department to develop 112 comprehensive sets of written directives that address life, health and safety issues as applied to law enforcement personnel, critical legal issues and conditions that reduce risk and high-liability exposure to the officers and the agency.     Rules and Regulations Ordinance

    The Rules and Regulations Governing the Use of Parks and Facilities of the Fox Valley Park District are intended to ensure the use and enjoyment of all Park District locations. It is the intention of the Fox Valley Park District Board of Trustees that not only will this ordinance be enforced, but that all appropriate provisions of state criminal law, especially those related to the use of drugs, liquor or weapons, be enforced by the Fox Valley Park District Police. This ordinance is in no way intended to take the place of provisions of state, municipal or county law otherwise intended to ensure the safety and good conduct of any person making use of Park District facilities, programs and services.
